THE BIG FIND

Would You Sleep 22 Feet Underwater?

I came across something that made me stop scrolling.

There is a place in Key Largo where you can spend the night underwater.

Not in a glass-bottom hotel.

Not in a room overlooking the ocean.

Actually underwater.

To get there, you put on scuba gear and descend about 22 feet into the lagoon.

Then you swim into your room.

YOUR ROOM IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LAGOON

Jules began as an actual undersea research habitat and is now part of MarineLab's Aquanaut Adventure.

The overnight experience starts above the water, but eventually you make your way down through a moon pool into the habitat.

Inside are bedrooms, a bathroom, a small kitchen and windows looking directly into the lagoon.

Outside those windows?

Fish.

Coral.

Water.

And absolutely no ordinary hotel view.

IMAGINE 10 P.M.

It's dark outside.

You're sitting inside an underwater habitat.

A fish swims past the window.

The surface of the ocean is somewhere above you.

There is nowhere you need to go.

Nothing you need to see.

You are simply there.

That is what fascinates me about this as a reset.

It isn't peaceful because someone scheduled a meditation session.

It's peaceful because you've put yourself somewhere so unusual that the rest of your normal routine doesn't really fit anymore.

THEN YOU WAKE UP THERE

The Aquanaut Adventure is a two-day, one-night experience.

It includes diving, meals, time inside the habitat and a dusk dive before spending the night underwater.

The next morning, you wake up beneath the surface.

And I think that's the part I'd want to experience.

Not because it's luxurious.

It isn't.

This is an adventure.

You need scuba certification, you're sharing a compact habitat and you're definitely not ordering room service at midnight.

But you'll probably remember it forever.

MAYBE THAT'S THE RESET

We tend to think of resetting as making everything quieter.

This is different.

It's about making everything new.

A new environment.

A new rhythm.

A little adrenaline.

A little wonder.

Something you can't compare to the weekend you took last year.

And maybe that's what we need sometimes.

Not another beautiful room.

Not another place to sit by a pool.

Not another itinerary.

Just one experience that makes you look around and think:

How did I end up here?

Twenty-two feet underwater.

Sleeping beneath the Florida Keys.

Honestly?

I'd do it.

Until Monday's next Weekend Find,

Wander & Reset
