✨ THE BIG FIND

Go There for One Thing
Maybe it's a restaurant you've been thinking about for months.
A bookstore you've heard about.
A farm where the apples are actually worth the drive.
Or one completely random thing you can't stop thinking about.
Here's a different way to plan a weekend: don't start with the destination. Start with the thing.
Pick one reason to go, then let the rest of the weekend unfold around it.
🍎 Go for the Apples

In Warwick, New York, Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery sits on more than 120 acres of orchards and farmland.
During apple season, you can pick your own apples, wander through the orchards, grab something from the farm kitchen and stay awhile with a glass of wine or cider.
There are more than 65 varieties of apples grown here, so this isn't just a quick stop for a bag of apples.
It's a reason to make the drive.
And once you're there, you might find yourself looking for a nearby trail, a little town to wander through or somewhere good for dinner.
That's the point.
📚 Go for the Bookstore

Sometimes the reason for the trip can be much smaller.
Find an independent bookstore you've never visited and make that the destination.
Give yourself an hour or two inside. Browse without looking for anything specific. Pick up a book you wouldn't have ordered online.
Then find coffee.
Walk around town.
Have dinner.
You don't need a list of twelve things to do. You already have your reason for going.
🚂 Go for the Ride

Pick a scenic train ride and let the ride itself be the attraction.
No complicated itinerary. No pressure to see everything.
Just a ticket, a window seat and somewhere different outside the glass.
Get off afterward and explore whatever town happens to be waiting for you.
🌊 Go for the Water

Maybe your one thing is somewhere you can actually get in the water.
A swimming hole tucked into the woods.
A lake with a quiet shoreline.
A waterfall you've never seen.
A beach that feels completely different once the crowds disappear.
Make that the destination.
Bring a towel. Pack lunch. Take the long way there.
You don't have to turn it into an entire weekend of activities. Sometimes sitting beside the water for a few hours is exactly why you went.
THE WANDER & RESET RULE
We spend so much time trying to make a weekend feel worth it that we can accidentally plan all the fun out of it.
So try this instead:
Pick one thing.
One restaurant.
One bookstore.
One hike.
One farm.
One train ride.
One swimming hole.
One tiny town you've never heard of.
Then build nothing else around it.
Leave room for the unexpected.
Because sometimes the best getaway isn't the one with the most things on the schedule.
It's the one where one really good thing was enough to get you out the door.
