THURSDAY’S BIG FIND: A LITTLE WINTER MAGIC IN CALIFORNIA

A White Christmas Without the Winter Coat

Imagine checking into a beautiful hotel in Southern California, ordering something warm to drink, and watching snow begin to fall outside.

There's just one little twist. You're nowhere near a snowy mountain.

At the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, Christmas is getting a very unexpected makeover this year. Think Alpine-inspired decorations, twinkling lights, festive food, and scheduled snowfall right outside the hotel entrance.

And honestly, it sounds like a rather lovely way to celebrate winter.

A Little Alpine Village, California Style

Beginning December 1, the hotel transforms its grounds into a festive winter setting, complete with simulated snowfall every half hour from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. through January 1.

You can settle into the holiday atmosphere, watch the snowflakes fall, and then head inside for a little European-inspired indulgence.

At Prosperous Penny, the hotel's 1920s-inspired bar, there's a Swiss Gruyère fondue experience for two, served with sourdough croutons, fingerling potatoes, cornichons, and other delicious accompaniments.

It's the sort of meal that makes you want to linger a little longer.

On weekends, the bar also offers an Après Ski-inspired dinner experience, bringing a playful touch of mountain-lodge dining to California.

The Part I Love Most: A Little Holiday Wellness

Of course, this is Wander & Reset, so we need a little more than pretty decorations and good food.

The hotel's spa is introducing a collection of winter-inspired treatments designed to bring a little calm into the busiest season of the year.

One experience that caught my attention is the Herbal Spa Apothecary for Two. It begins with a soothing herbal foot soak, followed by side-by-side massages and a special herbal tea service.

The treatment features a blend of rosemary, eucalyptus, peppermint, and sweet marjoram.

There's also a Mountain Aroma Massage featuring warm stones and aromatic oils, along with an Alpine Oxygen Facial designed to refresh winter-tired skin.

And if you'd rather move than spend the afternoon in the spa, the hotel's Matterhorn Express Fitness Challenge invites guests to track their progress through a playful mountain-climbing-inspired fitness challenge. Reach the summit and you'll earn a complimentary smoothie.

I love that wellness is woven into the holiday experience rather than treated as an afterthought.

Make Something, Taste Something, Enjoy the Season

The festive calendar also includes a handful of experiences that make this more than just a hotel stay.

You can try your hand at holiday wreath-making, create a seasonal floral arrangement, join a painting workshop, or even build a gingerbread creation.

There are also special Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dining experiences for those who want to make a celebration of their stay.

And for guests booking a suite, there's an especially charming touch: a beautifully decorated Christmas tree waiting in the room when they arrive.

Where to Find It

Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village is located in Westlake Village, California, between Malibu and the Santa Monica Mountains.

It's an appealing option for couples, friends, or families looking for a holiday getaway that combines a little luxury, festive fun, and time to recharge.

The seasonal program begins December 1, 2026, with the scheduled snowfall continuing through January 1, 2027.

You don't have to book an entire stay to enjoy everything, either. Some dining experiences and workshops are open to local visitors, although certain complimentary activities are reserved for overnight guests.

The Wander & Reset thought: Maybe the best holiday getaway isn't necessarily the one with the most snow, the biggest Christmas tree, or the longest list of activities.

Maybe it's the one that gives you permission to enjoy the little things. A warm meal, a beautiful spa treatment, an afternoon making something with your hands, and a little unexpected snowfall.

Because the holidays should feel like something we're enjoying, not just something we're trying to get through.

Until Monday's next Weekend Find,

Wander & Reset
