I have a new rule for fall weekends:

They should involve at least one thing you would never normally do.

This one involves llamas.

Yes. Llamas.

This October, Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa in New Hampshire is turning its traditional resort weekend into something that feels a little more like grown-up summer camp.

It's called Grand Makers Camp, and the October 23–25 weekend combines the mountains, fall foliage and a lineup of activities that are decidedly more fun than your average weekend away.

The part that caught my attention?

A morning llama trek.

You head outside with the llamas, coffee in hand, and spend part of the morning wandering through the property.

Honestly, I'm in.

The weekend also includes creative workshops, farm yoga, hiking trails, fireside s'mores, seasonal meals and time to simply enjoy the property.

There is even a movie night with popcorn and candy.

And because this is a fall weekend in New Hampshire, you get the White Mountains as your backdrop.

The idea isn't to spend three days being “productive.”

It's to make things.

Try something new.

Go outside.

Laugh a little.

And remember that grown-ups are allowed to have fun too.

I'd make the most of the in-between moments.

Wake up before breakfast.

Walk outside while the air is cold.

Grab a coffee.

Go see the llamas.

Spend the afternoon doing absolutely whatever sounds good.

Maybe that's hiking.

Maybe it's a creative workshop.

Maybe it's sitting somewhere with a view and doing nothing at all.

Then end the day by the fire.

That's a fall weekend I can get behind.

We've all done the scenic fall drive.

We've all stopped at the overlook.

We've all taken approximately 47 pictures of the same tree.

This is different.

It's a little silly.

A little nostalgic.

A little outdoorsy.

And surprisingly restorative.

Because sometimes a reset doesn't have to be serious.

Sometimes you just need a mountain, some fresh air and a llama.
